How to Automatically Update Excel Tables in PowerPoint Slides?

How to Automatically Update Excel Tables in PowerPoint Slides?

When building reports in PowerPoint, many teams rely on Excel to calculate and structure the underlying data. Traditionally, this means linking Excel tables to PowerPoint charts using PowerPoint’s native paste-link functions – ensuring that charts reflect updates in the source file.
However, this approach has several limitations.

Common Challenges with Native Excel Links

If your reporting cycle depends on accurate Excel-driven data, these fragile links can become a serious bottleneck.
  • Broken links caused by renamed, moved, or missing files
  • Manual rework to repair or recreate links
  • Slow workflows when managing multiple charts under tight deadlines

The Chartrics Advantage

Chartrics eliminates the risk and friction of traditional linking by connecting PowerPoint charts directly to Excel tables via the Chartrics Cloud. Once your Excel and PowerPoint files are synced in the same project, any updates made to your Excel workbook can be reflected across your slides with a single click

This secure cloud-based connection ensures:
  • Fast, reliable updates
  • No broken links
  • Consistent formatting and structure – every time

Setup Requirements for Automatic Updates

To enable automatic updates:
  • Your Excel workbook and PowerPoint file must both be saved in the same Chartrics Cloud Project
  • Charts should be created or linked using Chart Maker

How to Refresh PowerPoint Charts with Updated Excel Data?

All connected charts and tables will immediately update with the latest data from your Excel workbook – with no broken links and no extra formatting required.
  1.  Open the PowerPoint report stored in your Chartrics Cloud Project
  2.  Navigate to the Chartrics tab in the PowerPoint ribbon
  3.  Click Report Update → select Recalculate
