How to Create a PowerPoint Chart Using the Chartrics Excel Add-In?
If you regularly work in Excel and need to present data, you’ve likely followed the usual routine: build charts in Excel, then copy and paste them one by one into PowerPoint. If you want those charts to stay updated, you’ll need to use linked objects – which often break, limit formatting control, and create extra friction.
Chartrics offers a smarter way:
- With the Chartrics Excel Add-in, you can select calculated tables or data ranges in Excel and save them directly to the Chartrics Cloud. These saved tables become reusable data sources that can be instantly linked to PowerPoint charts via the Chart Maker – no manual copying, pasting, or broken links.
- Once linked, your PowerPoint visuals stay connected to the Excel source – so any data updates in Excel can be reflected in your presentation with just one click.
How to Link Excel Data to PowerPoint Charts?
Follow these simple steps to connect your Excel data to PowerPoint:
In Excel
- Open your Excel file – either from Chartrics Cloud or upload a local file into the Cloud
- Select a cell or table range
- Click the Quick Add button in the Chartrics ribbon
- Name the selected table and save it to the Chartrics Table Library
In PowerPoint
- Insert a chart and open Chart Maker (right-click → Chart Maker)
- In the top-left corner of the Chart Maker canvas, go to the Workbook tab and select your Excel file
- Drag and drop the saved tables into the Chart Maker shelves (Row/Column)
- Click Apply to generate the chart on your slide
Keep Your Charts Updated Automatically
Your chart is now securely linked to the original Excel workbook and can be refreshed anytime the source data changes – keeping your presentation up to date, fast and without errors.
